Which is The Best Full-Coverage Concealer? - By Rachell Tan
Hi guys! I’m Rachell, and this will be my first post for Sample Store!
Today, we’ll be comparing Sample Store’s Top 4 Picks for Concealers namely:
1. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer
2. Too Faced Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Concealer
3. URBAN DECAY Naked Skin - Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer
4. BECCA Ultimate Coverage Longwear Concealer
WHAT MAKES A GOOD CONCEALER?
For me, a good concealer must provide good coverage for my flaws, has to be easy to blend, buildable, and should not be drying to the skin.
The format for the 4 concealers we’re comparing today all comes with applicators, with the only difference being the thickness of the applicators.
(Please ignore the difference in shades)
With the exception of URBAN DECAY Naked Skin - Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer, the 3 other brands have about 15 - 20 different shades for you to select from.
The URBAN DECAY Naked Skin - Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer has 8 shades available in Sephora.
I blended the swatches with my fingers, and as you can see from the blurring of the lines, the NARS & TOO FACED concealers blended out the most naturally.
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer
From the sleek packaging, down to the easy to work with formula, I found this product very likeable. A little of this product goes a long way. There’s nothing much I can complain about this, except the price is slightly on the steeper side if I had to nitpick. Then again, I believe I’m paying for the high quality I’m getting!
・Good coverage, easily blendable with fingers, light and non-cakey formula, has a smooth velvety finish.
・It’s also a very forgiving formula where you can make changes to your makeup without the concealer setting too quickly.
・Product has a mild odour which isn’t a concern.
Overall Rating: 4/5 Stars | Retailing at $46 (6ml)
Too Faced Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Concealer
I’ve always been a fan of Too Faced products, but I promise that my review for this Multi-Use Concealer is impartial! This product’s performance surpassed my expectations, making it the most value for money out of the lot. I particularly liked that the formula wasn’t drying on my eye area (where I usually spam a ton of concealer), and it gives a “hydrated photo-ready complexion” as it promises. You can also use this product for contour, highlight and retouch.
・Great coverage, easily blendable with fingers, formula gives a hydrated finish.
・Just like the NARS Concealer, it is also a very forgiving product where you can make changes to your makeup without the concealer setting too quickly.
・Product has a mild odour which isn’t a concern.
・This huge bottle of goodness makes it the most value for money!
・Not as portable compared to the smaller concealers to bring around.
Overall Rating: 4/5 Stars | Retailing at $44 (15ml)
URBAN DECAY Naked Skin - Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer
True to its name, this concealer provides a soft veil to your imperfections with its light formula.
The velvety smooth finish really left an impression, because it felt nicer to touch than my own skin haha! I’d recommend this if you’re going for a super no-makeup makeup look and just want to conceal minor imperfections.
・Provides a really velvety smooth finish, beautiful packaging
・Coverage isn’t strong enough (for my horrible dark eye circles), not a fan of the strong odour
・Lesser shades available compared to the rest
Overall Rating: 3/5 Stars | Retailing at $40 (5ml)
BECCA Ultimate Coverage Longwear Concealer
I’m not liking this product as much as the numerous positive reviews online I read tell me I should. And I’m blaming it on my inadequacies in makeup skills (particularly blending), and maybe it’s a sign for me to invest in better blending brushes or something!
・Formula provides strong coverage, great for professional photoshoots (read online that this concealer requires setting with powder)
・Has the best fragrance among all the other concealers
・Difficult to blend with just fingers
・Formula dries up the fastest, making it difficult for (a noob) me to blend away my mistakes
Overall Rating: 2/5 Stars | Retailing at $44 (6g)
If you’re looking for a concealer, I’d highly highly recommend the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and Too Faced Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Concealer!
NARS is great for travelling, and on the go touch ups, whereas I’d use the Too Faced concealer when I have bad dark circles or outbreaks because the formula gives a hydrated finish, making it less likely to cake up on my face. The reason why these are my top picks would be their ease of blending. This is really crucial in the morning when I’m in a rush for work. The last thing I want is to see streaks of unblended concealer under my eyes, making me look like an even bigger mess than I already am hahah!
I hope you guys will like our recommendations, and I’ll see you guys again soon!
