Don't forget to apply your sunscreen in this weather!

We all know that sunscreen is the ultimate essential when it comes to skincare so as to prevent skin cancer, formation of wrinkles, dark spots and uneven skin tone. Even the 41 year old Taiwanese woman who looks like a teenager mentioned that sunscreen is the key to her youthful look. However, it may be confusing when you have to incorporate sunscreen to your makeup regimen. Does your sunscreen comes before your foundation or after?

Which comes first? Sunscreen or Makeup?

For maximum protection, sunscreen should be applied before your makeup:

1. Apply sunscreen on your skin generously and evenly (we would recommend sunscreens with SPF30 and above).

2. Wait for a few minutes and you are all ready for your makeup application.

P.S. sunscreens actually work as an awesome makeup base!

My foundation with SPF should suffice?

Sadly, this is not advisable as your makeup products with SPF are not able to provide you with full protection. To get the full protection of any SPF product, you are supposed to use about a nickel sized amount of product on your face. But will you be able to apply the same amount of foundation on your face? Likely not! So don’t rely your makeup products for the best sun protection.

Also, bear in mind that a single application usually last for 4 to 6 hours and if you’re sweating or swimming it lasts for 2 to 3 hours. So reapplication is necessary if you’re exposed under the sun.

How do I reapply sunscreen with my makeup on?

You can still slap on sunscreen over your makeup but it is advisable to apply sunscreen underneath your makeup for maximum protection. And reapplying sunscreen on top of your makeup may ruin your makeup. A great alternative will be getting loose or mineral powder with SPF or even BB / CC creams!

Last but not least,

Make sure you don’t miss out areas like your ears and neck! These areas require sun protection as well!
