Lightweight BB/CC Creams & Cushions for Oily & Congested Skin - By Aylna Neo

The question that I get the most is, “What BB/CC cream are you using?” Today, I will be sharing MY ALL-TIME FAVOURITE BB/CC Cream. I hardly disclose this to anyone because I don’t want my favourite product to get sold out.

My skin tends to get very oily at the T-zone area during midday with makeup on. Also, my pores tend to clog very easily hence finding the right foundation is a chore.

Skin without makeup - obvious blemish scars and clogged pores.

For this review, I got to try a few brands that I didn’t try before and I must say, you guys are in for a treat today!

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better™ CC+™ Cream with SPF 50+

I’ve been using this product almost daily for the past 2 years, and yes, this is my favourite CC Cream even until today! A little fun fact about this product is that it is developed by plastic surgeons and the brand had come up with a formula that is able to treat your skin as well as covering imperfections.

Pros: The IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better™ CC+™ Cream with SPF 50+ gives a smooth and pore-less finish. Personally, I like that it is very lightweight because full coverage foundation usually tends to cause breakouts on my skin. I usually use this CC Cream for colour correcting then using a concealer to conceal any imperfections. This foundation also comes with anti-ageing properties which is a plus point for me.

Cons: Requires more layer if needed for more coverage. And it only comes in 7 shades which might not be suitable for everyone.

Tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF30

I’ve heard many people raving about for Tarte’s products especially their concealer, which I’m a fan of! Since they can develop such high quality concealer, I’m really excited to try the Tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF30. This product is a long-wearing vegan treatment primer that can be used under foundation. Since I have oily skin which I don’t really like to pile up different products, l use this product alone without any other foundation on top and then added concealer to cover any blemishes. This tinted primer is something that I will go for when I want to have a lightweight base. The tinted formula helps to correct my skin tone and redness around my nose area.

Pros: The product’s tinted and lightweight formula is highly recommended for Singapore’s weather, especially when it comes with SPF. Also, since it’s a primer, it helps to cover visible pores. Coverage wise, is light to medium. If you would like to have more coverage, its easily build-able. Overall, this product is suitable for people without much skin concerns.

Cons: Does not work well in oil control. For people with oily skin like me, your T-zone will start to produce oil during midday. However you can always use loose powder or any mattifying powder to aid this situation.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Skin Perfector

I’m a huge fan of Make Up For Ever, especially their powder and foundation products! I’ve been using this product since it was launched. The build-able and lightweight formula helps with the irregularities of skin and blurs out imperfections. Similar to the other products that I’ve reviewed, it’s a skin tint.

Pros: What I love about this product is that I feel like I have not applied anything and it allows my skin to breathe! The formula is very light and watery hence it feels less heavy on skin unlike the usual foundation which makes my skin feel heavy and clogged. The tint will go from a little tacky to smooth in a matter of seconds. Doesn’t require setting powder.

Cons: Fine lines are still visible. So if you are someone who’s concern about covering fine lines, I suggest using a silicone base primer first to overcome this issue.

Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion Intense

I am in love with Sulwhasoo! If you’re unaware, Sulwhasoo is one of the big player in the Korean skincare industry, and many of their products are known for their effective anti-ageing properties. The Perfecting Cushion Intense is formulated with red pine which is a key ingredient in Sulwhasoo products.

The BB Cushion helps to rejuvenate damaged skin and restore skin resilience. After applying the cushion, there’s a subtle glow that emerge out of your skin. That is due to their plum blossom extract for antioxidant properties as well as Sulwhasoo Radiance Pearl Powder Complex which helps the skin to glow from within.

Pros: The cushion is able to cover a decent amount of blemishes and pores when the formula feels so lightweight. I love that it contains skincare benefits which help to heal your skin even when you are using makeup. Another thing that I really like about this product is that it doesn’t settle into fine lines on your face and it doesn’t crease around your laugh lines (which happens to me a lot when I laugh too much), in fact it helps to blur out my laugh lines pretty well! I would highly recommend this product if you have visible lines on your face.

Cons: Coverage is not the best, you still require concealer to cover more visible blemishes or any dark spots. If you have oily skin like me, this product does leave a shine/glow to it. So if you prefer a matte finish, do use powder on top of this cushion for a shine-free finish. However, if you like a natural glow, the “no makeup look” I would highly recommend you to try this product!

HERA BLACK CUSHION SPF 34/PA++

The recent launch of a new cushion caused quite a stir nationwide, and that is the HERA BLACK CUSHION SPF 34/PA++. The HERA BLACK CUSHION SPF 34/PA++’s is formulated with a new technology which is what causes everyone to love this product so much! And that is the Bright Fit Cover Powder and also the Matte Finish Gel. This cushion is formulated with amino acid which is similar to our skin’s protein, hence it allows the powder to blend into the skin easily and brightens up your face seamlessly.

Given that the Matte Finish Gel is used, it helps to leave a fresh matte finish. Sounds like a dream especially in our hot weather! No wonder this cushion was highly raved in South Korea and many Korean YouTubers deemed this product as one of the best cushion in the market.

Pros: This produce gives high coverage given that its texture is lightweight. This is mind blowing! Also, you can cover visible marks and pores on skin with one application. As compared with other cushion compacts, this product is definitely less dewy and leaves a matte finish. The available shades are catered for asian skin which is really awesome for Singaporeans.

Cons: If you have oily skin, I will suggest using powder to set your makeup. Although it states that it leaves a matte finish, it is still a little tacky after application. If you want your foundation to last whole day without budging, loose powder or any mattifying powder should do the trick.
