5 Beauty Products You Should Refrigerate
The first thing that comes to mind after grocery shopping is to hurry home and store the fresh food such as meat in the refrigerator to preserve the freshness and prolong its shelf life. But does this apply to beauty products?
Well, it depends! Some beauty brands advocate that due to the ingredients that were used. And your expensive creams may be less effective when it is exposed to humidity. On top of that, certain products work more effectively when chilled.
Here are some products that you can consider refrigerating:
Heat and light are perfumes worst enemies as they are the culprits of causing your perfume to smell different. Refrigerating your favourite fragrances can help to preserve the scent as cold temperatures aid in slowing down the separation process of the key ingredients that make up the scent.
2. Water-Based Skincare Products
Water-based toners, moisturisers and serums are suitable to be kept in the fridge. Having these products chilled helps to calm the skin and tighten pores during application. If you were to keep oil-based products in the fridge, the water and oil elements is likely to get separated which ruins the product.
3. Eye Creams
Cold temperature enhances the effectiveness of your eye creams. It helps to reduce puffiness and inflammation as cold constricts blood vessels. Chilled eye cream is a great pick me up for your tired eyes.
4. Nail Lacquers
Storing your nail lacquers in the fridge helps to keep its smooth consistency which makes application fuss-free. Say goodbye to thick and sticky nail lacquers.
5. Organic And/Or Natural Products
If you own organic and/or natural products, it is advisable to place it in the fridge as they do not contain any preservatives which result in shorter shelf life. So it is best to store them in the fridge to avoid any unnecessary chemical reactions.
The rule of thumb is, keep your beauty hauls away from direct sunlight in dry and cool areas, as heat and light can affect the chemical structures which may cause a product to be less effective. And if you are keeping your beauty products in the fridge with the food items, make sure that the products are sealed and kept in a separate compartment or an airtight storage box to prevent cross contamination of bacteria.
